(For new systems) Before you begin creating projects, be sure to use the Setup button on the main screen to enter your basic company information on the Setup Form. Information on this form will affect a number of fundamental things about your reports and projects, such as:

  • All of your reports display your company information based on what you enter here (except your company name, which is hard-coded into your client key and is not entered manually).
  • You will want to enter, at minimum, your company's main address. You can also enter separate addresses for receivables and payables. 
  • Default report fonts can be changed (with care).
  • Firm-wide settings for currency and the default unit for measured area (this enables budgeting per unit area).
  • Display of profit margins instead of markups can be selected for calculating prices on the specification screen.
  • Firm-wide default markups (or profit margins) and other fees can be specified.  All of these can be overridden for any project.
  • A company logo can be selected to appear on all reports.

Finally, this is where you can go to see technical information about your system's data locations and data capacity.

Activating your client key

All installations of FF&EZ operate in "demo" mode, using a hard-coded (and obviously fake) company name, until you activate them with a key file. The key file is an encrypted file containing your company name and other settings and is sent to you upon payment of your license fee. To activate it, there is a Utility option used for this purpose.
