Over time (months) of use, the indexes used by FF&EZ to organize the data may become less efficient, especially if a large amount of information has been deleted as part of normal maintenance. If you experience a noticeable slowdown in the software's speed, you may wish to run this utility to remove deleted records and refresh the indexes. In order to run this procedure, you will need to have at least twice as much free disk space as the files contained in the DATA subdirectory of the main FF&EZ directory. The system will verify this prior to starting. Although a problem with your data is very unlikely, if a problem occurs, the cleanup will abort and leave your existing data as it was before the process started. The process also automatically repairs certain problems if it finds any. Note: Since this process involves a complete rewriting of the data tables, it makes an temporary backup copy of your data prior to completion. However, we still recommend that you first create a backup of the DATA folder with the Backup Database command, which is also on the Utilities menu with this one. The backup made by this latter command creates a single file that can be easily sent to technical support if a problem with your data causes the cleanup to abort. |
